Feeding the hungry regardless of circumstances.
The Yale Community Kitchen (YCK) was founded over 20 years ago by a group of Yale students who recognized a gap in support for New Haven’s unhoused community, especially on weekends when other local meal programs were closed.
Operating out of 84 Broadway since its partnership with the Community Soup Kitchen, YCK now serves over 300 meals each week, repurposing surplus food from Yale Dining to provide nutritious, sustainable meals to those in need.
With a mission to combat food insecurity and bridge the gap in access to healthy food in the surrounding food desert, YCK brings together graduate and undergraduate students to actively engage with and support the local community. By fostering a culture of care, equity, and sustainability, YCK continues its commitment to nourishing its neighbors while advancing Yale’s sustainability goals.
